FYI to people on BOTH sides of the aisle. Stop vilifying each other. We have more in common than what separates us. It’s the politicians who want you to believe everyone who voted for the “other side” is evil. But most Americans are in the middle.
Both sides want to keep violent illegal immigrants out of the country. The debate is about how we do it – how much due process they get, how aggressively we go into schools and churches, etc.
Both sides want school shootings to stop. The debate is about balancing 2nd amendment rights with safety, and where we draw the line on that continuum.
Both sides want the government to spend less. The debate is about where we cut – eg tax rates for billionaires, or social safety nets.
Both sides want smaller government and less red tape. The debate is about where/how we cut (chainsaw vs scalpel), and how much deregulation is still safe (if you cut the FAA, is air travel still safe; if you cut the IRS, does that mean we catch fewer tax cheats, etc.)
Both sides want reasonable abortion rights, eg when Mom’s health is at risk, during first trimester
Both sides want to grow the economy -the debate is how best to do so. Do you try to trickle down, or build from the bottom up or the middle out.
“Woke” and “DEI” are just bogey words. We all want people to have freedom to love and marry who they want as long as it doesn’t bother me. We all want equal rights for all – we just disagree on who’s being treated “more equal”. Is it White Privilege or DEI or perhaps a bit of both?
